Mission

We’re pursuing and proclaiming the Holy City in Charleston and to the ends of the earth.

Values

Holy City Church is committed to be:

Glorifying Jesus

The Resurrected Lord taught that every part of the Bible is about Him, and that he is the focal point of human history (Luke 24:27; 44-47). He is ultimate and central, not us. For this reason we preach Christ and not ourselves (1 Cor. 2:2; 2 Cor. 4:5).

Grounded in the Bible

God gives life through His Word. By the Word we are born again (1 Peter 1:23-25), and through His Scriptures we are trained in righteousness and equipped for every good work (2 Tim. 3:16-17). God’s Word is of divine authority in all matters upon which it touches. Therefore, we commit to carefully and intentionally submit every aspect of the church’s life to the Bible. In the local church, the preaching of God’s Word is central and primary.

Gathering to display Christ

Christ’s death broke down the walls that divide humanity (Eph. 2:13-16). This new community is built on Christ, not on ethnic, cultural, or age similarities. It is Christian love within the believing community that declares our authentic discipleship to the world (John 13:34-35).

Given to faithful prayer

We pray because we are dependent upon Him, apart from whom we can do nothing (John 15:5)! He promised to build His church (Matt. 16:18), and we will continually ask Him to do so!

Going and making disciples

With all the authority of heaven and earth, the Resurrected Christ commands us to make disciples of all nations (Matt. 28:18-19), and to proclaim repentance and forgiveness in His name everywhere (Acts 2:38-39). Our aim is not only to be God’s agents for evangelism, conversion, and discipleship in Charleston, but also to mobilize Christ’s people to make disciples of every people group. We want Charleston to be a global sending center for Gospel preaching, teaching, training, giving, sending, and church planting!
